Zack had taken one of his rare naps today, so he wasn't even close to ready to sleep at bedtime. So I stuck him in my bed with a movie while I sat with Kadan til he fell asleep. Then I came in to snuggle with Zack a bit til he was ready for bedtime.
Zack sits up and smacks my pillows repeatedly, "Oh! It's TOO hard, mom! Gotta get 'em soft!"
Just when it looks like he's decided the pillows are about ready I evilly lay down on the pillows myself, "Ahhhh! Soooo comfy!!! Thanks for getting them ready for me, goodnight!" I close my eyes and pretend to be asleep.
"MOMMY!" He says, totally appalled. Then his voice changes to how mine is when explaining consequences, "Hey. If you lay on my pillows... then I will lay on you head!"
I still pretend to be asleep. He lays his head on mine for about 10 seconds, then I feel him move his head so he's looking right into my face and after about 10 more seconds he says, "Mommy.... you super cute."
Of course I can't help it so I laugh out loud, "I think you're super cute."
He giggles, "Yeah! And you're super cute, too. I gonna go to sleep now."
He lays down on the pillows and fake snores. He cracks one eye open, "Shhh! Be quiet." And fake snores some more.
"Zackery... you're snoring," I whisper.
He whispers, too, while giggling, "I like it. When I do snore, I go speed fast to sleep. When I don't snore, I don't go speed fast to sleep."
"Okay. Well, I'm pretty sure you're a little crazy. Are you crazy."
With a tired sigh, "Yeah... I is."
Then he blows on his legs. When I give him an odd look he says, "It makes my legs feel better."
"Yup... pretty crazy. Where did you come from anyway?"
"I don't know!... I was at home, then I went to Disneyland, then I just come home. That's where I came from. When you are 4, like I is 4, then you come to Disneyland with me, okay?"
"But you're not 4, not yet. You didnt' have a birthday yet."
"But you say I DID have a birthday. You say that!"
"Today? Today was Grandpa's birthday."
"Ohhhhh. Mommy you didn't tell me that. I thought it was my birthday. We have to bring Grandpa a cake."
"No, Grandpa already had cake, and he is far away right now."
"Yeah. Him is at the beach. Under the water at the beach. Him doesn't know how to get back yet. We need a boat to go get him. You know?! We DO need a boat."
"Well, how is he going to get home then?"
"He has to drive. For this (holds up fingers and toes) minutes, him has to drive. You know that? You know?!"
"Wow, I didn't know that."
The conversation went on, but it was really even more random than what I already wrote about. LOL But I just had to share how odd some of the moments I have with my middle child are. : )
He is the oddest little goofball I've ever met. He already comes up with some crazy comments and stories and explanations for things. I can't imagine what it's going to be like when he's older! LOL
His favorite word right now is Bac-a-roni. He is convinced it rhymes with everything. Everything. Actually... the phrase he uses is "BAC-uh-WOHNEEEEEEE?!?!?!? Dat rhymes!!!!!!!!!!!!!" This phrase can follow anything anybody else says. I... just do not know where this child comes up with 90% of the things that come out of his mouth. LOL He is the comic relief in our family, that is for sure!
P.S. He is sitting here jabbering next to me. I turn and say "Bac-a-roni!!! does that rhyme?"
He says, with a deeply contemplating and kind of confused look, "Um..... maybe?" : )
Absolutely wonderful!
