moneeeeyyyyy MONEEEYYYYY!.... MONEY HONEY!!! -(Bay City Rollers)

So this semester I am taking a finances class that I was a little hesitant about at first but turns out I really LOVE LOVE LLLLOOOVVVEEE it!!!

I'm learned TONS and TONS of useful stuff everyday! It's awesome! As most ridiculous newlyweds.... me and Blaine were not too smart with our money 'back in the day'. We learned pretty quick though and have spend the last 5 years working hard to improve things. It's hard when sometimes you don't know the best way to arrange things, though. You kind of just have to wing it and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and you have to remind yourself not to bang your head on the wall for your stupidity.

Well. This class has given us SO many great ideas! I feel much more enlightened and intelligent than I did previously. Now I have all these ideas for a better budget, tips on how to STICK to the budget, ways to save smartly, do my taxes better, paying off debt easier, buying and paying off a home easier, even ways to save for retirement!!!! That's right. We are saving for our retirement right now. And I'm kind of pissed at myself for not starting when I was first out of high school... or even when I was IN high school! Ah... if I could add up all the money i've made since my first job at age 13.... eesh... I seriously have no idea where it all went sometimes.

One of the texts we've used for this class is called "The Automatic Millionaire". No no, this is no quick rich scheme. This is a takes-work-and-effort-and-discipline-and-knowledge-and-planning-and-a-long-long-time scheme. : ) It really has some great ideas. We're not going to implement EVERYTHING from it, but a good portion. I'm actually really excited to get started! I just finished to book (and my report on it) last night. I loved pretty much every single page of the book. I love my other textbook, too, entitled "Personal Finances". But that one is a legit textbook. Long. Not quite so enjoyable a read... but still full of loads of good information! The Automatic Millionaire is not too long and is a seriously good read.

Apparently he has other books out, too, and has a website and all such things. His name is David Bach, and I guess he was on Oprah awhile back, too. Here's his site: (www.finishrich.com) It's worth checking out I think. Here's another guy we really like listening, too and browsing through his website: (www.daveramsey.com)

Anyways... here's to learning how to create a better life for ourselves, financial security, and a happy retirement 40 years down the road! : )
