Aww man. I LOVE karaoke. Like. TONS. It is second only to being able to belt out a great tune on stage for a real performance.
Sadly... our karaoke machine is not functioning currently. This makes me very depressed. BUT... I sing enough in the car and around that house that it's okay. Because singing karaoke by yourself at home really isn't that cool anyway.
Singing karaoke on a stage at a Mexican beach resort.... now THAT'S cool. (Am I right?! Am I right?! There's gotta be at least one of you reading this that went on that high school trip and sang a little tune up on that stage, too!)
I was severely disappointed that I never sang karaoke on our cruise... I really really wanted to... but on karaoke nights you had to sign your name up early because there were only 15 spots... so I never did, much to my regret.
I have yet to visit a karaoke bar as well. I don't know why. I LOVE karaoke. We've just never gone. So I have sadly been limited to little random karaoke events with family or friends. And it's certainly fun, but tonight... : )... TONIGHT:
One of my lovely friends turned 30 and we went to her surprise b-day bash which happened to be an 80's Rockstar/Karaoke Party!!!!! Holy moly it was fun! Lots of great people and TONS of GREAT songs that we all jammed out, too. There were a few solos, but mostly about 15 of us just sat around belting out those tunes together. There were some 80's... lots of 90's (we were reliving our high school days... good times... good times... and some crazy songs we used to listen to! haha!)... and some newer stuff as well. All the girls danced around belting out "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". "Whoomp There it is" was enjoyed as well as "Baby Got Back". The girls also enjoyed a nice rendition of "Goodbye Earl" and the boys vs. girls enjoyed "Summer Lovin'" from Grease. "Gettin' Jiggy With It", "Man I Feel Like a Woman", "You're So Vain", and about 4 hours more great hits were enjoyed. The night ended for me with "Moulin Rouge" in which I surprised myself by being able to whip out my mad rapping skills during that part of the song. I had no idea I knew it quite so well. LOL
Ah, man. I do love karaoke. Good times, good times.... The hard part is you have to have a group of people who are in the mood for karaoke in order for it to be a success. Tonight... it was an excellent success. BUT... I've also had times when we broke out the karaoke machine and the group juuuust wasn't feelin' it.
So here is the message to all (and it's super important to listen): #1-If ever you are presented with a karaoke party, GO!!!! Go and SING my friends....You may never know if it could be the super awesomest karaoke time you've ever had!!!.... #2-If you ever go to a karaoke bash and it's not that great.... start the gang of with a nice rendition of "You're So Vain", complete with dance moves and a sweeeeet blow-up-guitar solo. Thanks to Steph, that's what got our party going tonight!... #3-When in doubt, belt it out! Who cares if you're off tune, it's not American Idol! It's a karaoke party! so party, my friends. Go... and party.
One word for you....
