Where was all this stuff when I had my first two kids?!?!
With Kadan, I just used whatever someone gave me as a shower gift and whatever I saw on the Walmart shelf in the baby aisle. I didn't look around for hardly anything!
With Zack... well, it worked for Kadan, okay! We'll get use it for Zack. There were a few new kinds of things I got. I learned a little more what baby things I really liked and what things I rarely used (if ever at all).
With Cameron... I started browsing about cloth diapers... and cloth wipes... and things like "amber/hazelwood teething necklaces" and all these SUPER neat kinds of babywraps and slings! and TONS more stuff I'd never even heard of for all your daily use mommy stuff. Forums where moms talk about CDing and AIOs and "babywearing"... things I'd never even heard of!
There's like a MILLION websites with all this cool baby stuff that I never even knew existed! I walk down the baby aisle now at Walmart and think, "Well, I'm not buying THAT.... That ones dumb, too! That one online was WAY cooler." Not that Walmart is bad... I am a frequent Wally-World shopper. But it's pretty limited to your basic baby items. And it's totally not about 'being cool and trendy' and buying the more expensive stuff. No, no. These moms are all about value and what's more economical and how to get the most from your money. Most of all these websites I've been finding are all started by moms who couldn't find exactly what they wanted on the market so they... (drumroll)... decided 'heck with that! I'll make it myself!' and now they offer all these cool things to others. (I'm big into DIY stuff so these women are everyday superheroes in my eyes.)
I officially start cloth diapering tomorrow for Cameron (I've been using cloth pullups on the big boys for nightime for a few weeks now). I'm going to take a pic of Cameron in each of his new diapers (I bought a few different brands and styles to try). Really, I think I'm going to love it. Weird... never thought I'd say that... But I really do. Moms on forums keep talking about how they got 'addicted' to cloth diapering (CDing) and how fun it is.
Fun?... diapers?... it's FUN to diaper your baby?!? What?!?!? How can you be 'addicted' to diapering your baby?! It sounds so crazy. But that's seriously kind of how it is! There are so many cute colors and styles and soft fabrics. It's this whole other world and it really is... FUN! And... yeah, addicting! LOL! Now come on... how many of you can say you actually get excited to buy that package of Huggies and get excited to 'pick out' what diaper your baby will wear next? Yeeeeaaaahhhh, that's what I thought. ; )
