April Update for the Fam...

We've gotten some questions about whether we're still in school and such, and someone even asked me how Blaine is liking his nursing classes (he hasn't majored in nursing for over a year), so I thought I'd give a little life update for each of our family members:

Blaine:

Well, so far so good... he hasn't dyed his hair any crazy colors lately... but he is refusing to let me give him a hair cut... so I guess he's experimenting with lengths for now instead of colors. ; )

He is attending ISU part time. He is working towards the Physical Therapy Assistant program. He was working as a CNA when we first moved to Pocatello, but he finally found another therapy job (he worked for a Physical Therapist in Rexburg) last September so he's been doing that. He got promoted from Therapy Aid to Therapy Tech in January (MUCH earlier than normal) and his bosses pulled him aside a week or so ago and told him they are working on getting him promoted to Lead Tech now cuz they're so happy with the work he's doing. (I'm VERY proud of my honey!) He really loves his job working with people with disabilities. His coworkers, the individuals he works with and their families all just love him. (Surprise surprise, I don't think he's ever had a job where people didn't love him. Charisma is something he definitely doesn't lack. Alright... I'll stop bragging about my boy... I suppose I am slightly biased!)

Once the semester ends he's planning on picked up a second summer job. Probably just CNA or home healthcare work.

Oh, and I'll brag (and complain I suppose) a little more about him, he's been taking this Judo (a form of martial arts) class and he LOVES it... and... sad for me but good for him... he's lost like 12 pounds since we got back from Vacation. (as opposed to me whose lost... well... none). Except there are those occasions I get to tease him about when he gets beat up by girls in his class. HA HA HA! I love you, honey!

Karrie:

Okay... so... no longer teaching preschool... cuz we're stuck in a little 2 bedroom apartment for now. And I probably wont teach again from our home til we buy a house. It's WAY too much hassle to run that kind of business from a rental. Not worth it. So... I've applied for some childcare/preschool jobs around town. Hopefully I'll find something I can bring the boys with me to.

I've been a student at ISU this semester. I transferred the end of last fall. But... it's not working out so great. I really need something that i can do classes from home. Plus... ISU doesn't really have a good program that works with my associate's degree. So this semester has been kind of a speed bump for me school-wise. But I've found a school with program I can do in about 2 years that will get me my bachelor's (most likely in Elementary Education, but not positive yet on the exact major). So I'll be starting that program (competely from home, all online) this fall.

Kadan:
He just turned 4 years old the beginning of April. He is more independent than EVER. (Sometimes is good... sometimes its... well... not so good.) He's been my super big helper since we moved here. He helps me do the laundry and mop the floor. : ) He is a mini (and male) version of me. I see it more and more everyday. I have to try and keep that in mind when dealing with his antics.

He's such good big brother (well.. you know, for the most part!). He's always trying to help Zackery with everything. It's so funny to hear him talk to Zack cuz talks to him as if Zack can understand everything he can say and he'll tell him to do stuff and Zack will just get up and walk away leaving a very baffled and frustrated big brother. : )

Zackery:
He's walking and running around everywhere now. 3 more months and my baby will be 2 years old. He's been picking up new words left and right! Pronounciation is still not quite there, but we generally can understand him. Favorite words: hot, off, stick, stuck, rock, binky, drink, and (drumroll) more candy!

He loves following Kadan around and is just plain old too smart for his own stinkin' good! I gave the boys some vanilla wafers for a snack. Zack had more than he needed and STILL wanted more. It was close enough to dinner than I told him no more. He tried to climb up on his little Winnie-the-Pooh folding chairs, so I folded them up and put them away. I left the room for about 5 minutes and I come back to find him with a big bin pushed up to the counter standing on his tiptoes trying to reach the cupboard! My little baby is already devising plans to disobey his mother... sheesh... here we go! The madness starts! My boys are both old enought to conspire against me! : )

Zoe:

This is our ferret. She is about 5 months old now. Still small, but getting bigger. She's finally big enough to wear her harness and leash! So we've been taking her out for walks around the block which she LOVES! She's trained enough to use her litter box, come when we squeak her toy, not bite when playing, and sit nicely while the boys hold her. She's a tan color with her legs and a little bit of her face a darker color. We've really loved having her.

Butch & Rhonda:

These are our beta fish who live in wall fish bowls (yes, they are fish bowls that attach to the wall) in our bathroom (which is decorated with fish and tropical stuff). Butch is a dark purply blue. And Rhonda is a pinkish/red & teal. Last week Rhonda decided to go all Evel Knevel on us and jump out of her fish bowl. Luckily she landed on a towl that had fallen out of the laundry basket. We're not sure how long she was out of the water, but she was pretty shrivelled and sticky, so we're guessing awhile, but not more than 24 hours. It took her a few days to get rehydrated and to unstick her fins from her body, but she's back to normal and swimming happily. We're hoping she learned her lesson. : ) Butch hasn't tried any tricks of his own thankfully.
